Iseo is a municipality in Valcamonica, in the province of Brescia, and has about 9,000 inhabitants. It is thought that its name originates from the temple of Hercules and Isis which was present in the area in the past.

LAKEFRONT

Often, exhibited along the way, there are also works of art that culturally enrich the place.
Here there are also many bars and restaurants that you can enjoy, such as “L’Ora Fronte Lago”, “Berry Coffee Bar.
A very popular and appreciated beach is the “Lido Iseo Beach Resort“.
SEBINO PEAT BOGS
It is a natural area that originated from peat extraction and is located on the southern shore of Lake Iseo.
It is the most important wetland by extension of the province of Brescia.
It was mainly the local manpower who worked in the peat bog, paid “by the piece”, i.e. on the basis of the quantity of peat extracted.
The old peat storage building is still present in Iseo.

GARIBALDI SQUARE
In the past called simply ”Piazza del Mercato”, the main square of Iseo has at its center the first non-equestrian statue in the world dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi.
The sculpture was inaugurated in 1883 by Gabriele Rosa and sculpted by Pietro Bordini.
THE PIEVE DI SANT’ANDREA
The Pieve di Sant’Andrea a is a religious building dating back to Roman times and dedicated to Vigilius, bishop of Brescia in the fifth century AD,
This building quickly strikes you for its great visual impact due to a unique feature in the Brescia area: the bell tower that serves as an entrance.

ISEO CASTLE
One of the best preserved in the province of Brescia, the castle of Iseo is also known by the name of Castello Oldofredi, the name of a noble family from Iseo: however, no documents or evidence have been found that attest to its ownership or use.
Since Roman times, the castle of Iseo has stood on a settled area, a small hill in the southern area of the historic center of the town.
