I am 57 years old and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in September 2013. I have been quite active with the two Parkinson’s charities in the UK and organised a charity walk that raised over £300k for Parkinson’s Research.
I read about the European Parkinsons Therapy Centre on the Parkinson’s UK website. The bottom line is I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYONE WITH EARLY STAGE PARKINSONS TO GO TO THIS CENTRE. For what you get it is not expensive and it is the best thing I have done since my diagnosis. The hotels are very reasonably priced.
The staff are simply superb very encouraging and highly experienced. I had 1 1/2 hours 1-1 with Agatha every morning first thing then toured around the area which there is a lot to see and do. The centre was set up by Alex Reed who has had Parkinson’s for about 10 years. Alex is inspirational and working hard to set up similar places in the UK. Alex is originally from the UK but has lived in Italy for many years.
I still play 36 holes of golf and I strongly believe that with what I have learned in my week Boario Terme with exercise, good diet, and limited medication I can continue to play golf for several years to come. My wife and I are planning to go back for further treatment and training next year.
